YAMAHA R6 2017 -2025 MELOTTI RACING Steering Damper Bracket.

YAMAHA R6 Lateral Steering Damper attachment (Does Not Inc Hyd Damper)
Why you should install the steering damper laterally ?
The use of the lateral steering damper is a real “must” on racing bikes, because it allows for a faster, smoother and more progressive hydraulic response of the damper. These advantages are due to its lateral position, which is technically more correct. With the same oscillation of the steering during a shimmy, the shock absorber mounted in the lateral position has a greater stroke available to counteract the sudden movement of the front wheel compared to a steering damper mounted transversely.
This racing kit, developed in conjunction with Melotti Racing allows you to install the steering damper in a lateral position on your Yamaha R6. The Laterally mounted damper actually works as the movement of the damper ratio to steering is considerably greater ( up to 3 times) than when mounted transversely. Depending on how a transversely mounted damper aligns and the steering geometry created by the mounting the transversely mounted damper may be no more than a decoration. It might feel like its working but that’s just because of the hydraulic (block) interference. Due to this interference you are likely loosing some Front Tyre Feedback.
The kit consists of two elements in high Strength Aluminum Alloy (7075-T6) (Anticorodal), CNC machined with 3D technology, and treated against oxidation. 7075 T6 temper Aluminium was very much developed for the demands of the Aircraft Industry and as such resists deformation and stress that can only be of an advantage to the rider.
The first element has to be mounted on the frame using the two holes already present on the right side; the second element has to be mounted on the lower fork bridge and supports the “body” of the shock absorber.
Screws and washers for assembly are included with the kit.
Already tested with Toby steering damper (100mm stroke) and Ohlins (120mm stroke), with this kit it’s possible to use almost any steering damper available on the market with stroke between 100 mm and 120 mm (spacers may be required for a correct alignment).
Installation is only possible on racing bikes and with limited steering angle (RACE USE ONLY).
